Legionnaire Disease Treatment
Legionellosis is an acute bacterial disease caused by Legionella pneumophila, a poor staining, Gram-negative bacillus commonly found in water. Of the fourteen currently recognized serogroup 1 is most commonly associated with outbreaks and sporadic cases of legionellosis. Legionellosis may occur in two primary forms: Legionnaire's disease and Potiac Fever. Legionnaire's diseases is the most common form of legionellosis.
Legionella bacteria typically lives in water, hot tubs, shower heads, water faucets, air conditioning systems, water cooling towers hot towers and hot water heaters have all been implicated as source of aerosolized water droplets contaminated with bacterial.
The bacteria has been found in cooling towers and evaporative condensers or large air conditioning systems. Such system has been outbreak of disease.
