Tips on Buying & Using Air Conditioners

1. Determine the cooling capacity you need :
  • Examine the area in the room to be air-conditioned.
  • Estimate the cooling capacity required per square foot of area (Btu/hr per sqft)  corresponding to the function of the room. Get the Carrier's recommendations from the Product Selector section, or find out more from Carrier's Authorised Retail Outlets.
  • Provide higher BTU/HR per square foot.

    • If there are many sources generating heat in the room, such as TV, lightings and number of people
    • If the room exposes under strong sunlight.
    • If the room is under a roof which directly exposes under the sunlight.
2. Select a place that can accommodate both the weight and size of the unit.

3. Decide the type of air conditioner you preferred, WINDOW TYPE, WALL MOUNTED TYPE, UNDER CEILING TYPE, FLOOR STANDING TYPE, CASSETTE TYPE OR DUCTED TYPE.

4. Consider the features you need,e.g. 24-hour timer, air swing, three-stage filter, wireless remote controller as well as the quality and reputation of the manufacturer.
